Having to click 'Mark as Read' on every reply to a post you make is pretty tedious
I know we're not trying to copy Reddit, but their system of just clicking anywhere on the inbox message and it marking it as read is really nice and easy. Having to find the exact "Mark as Read" gets pretty tedious to me.
Thoughts?
It's more tedious in some ways, but less in others. Because it actually removes the comment (and moves the next one up) when you click it, if you have multiple notifications you can just click "mark as read" repeatedly in the same spot, instead of click-scroll-click-scroll-click-scroll.
I'll definitely be adding a "mark all as read" or an option to make it automatic when you open the page before too long as well.
Oh I didn't even think of just clicking all of them one by one. That makes it easier but yeah, a 'mark all as read' button would be cool
Yeah, it's already in the gitlab issue tracker labeled as a
feature
too: #49. You can browse around the issues (or click on the issue labels to see all others with that label), which is a good way to get a feel for what's potentially coming soon.My memory is not very good, but I think that button triggers a fade out animation that takes some time and slows down that process. If that's the case, will we ever have an option to disable animations?
It used to be a lot slower, I sped it up recently so that it's almost instant now.
Thanks for that, that solves my problem, I just tested it with your reply and another one I got a few minutes ago.
If I was just wishing, I think it'd be nice if it was marked as read if I replied to the comment.
It would be nice if there was a setting to disable the comment disappearing when you click mark on read. On Reddit I'll often mark a message as read by clicking on it, then click on 'context' to go reread the comment in context before I reply. To do the same here, you have to click 'parent' and then later go back to clear the notification.
When you follow the inbox link to the thread it should definitely automatically mark read, I agree. Things are still pretty...alpha-y here though so it might just be in the pipeline.
That sounds a lot like JavaScript, which I know he is trying to minimize.
