Request for spoiler, strike-through and underline formatting for text posts and comments
My apologies if this has been addressed already. I'd like to have spoiler format available for text posts and comments similar to reddit, where the spoiler part is a black box (white in night mode) that you click on to see what it says. Strike-through and underline (which reddit doesn't have) would be really nice to have also.
In the meantime, you can use this as a way to post spoilers via mouseover:
[this is a spoiler ](http:// "don't read me i'll spoil you") --> this is a spoiler
Doesn't work on mobile. :(
Not ideal but you could try mark it like this: [mark it like this](http://don't_read_me_i'll_spoil_you "don't read me i'll spoil you").
That way PC users can hover over the link to read it and mobile users can read the URL (don't even have to go to it, long-pressing works).
Clever workaround!
That's neat, thanks.
Strikethrough and tables are coming Soon™ (read: whenever Deimos gets round to it). Spoilers have been discussed; I don't think a syntax has been decided upon yet.
I hope we won't end up with reddit's syntax for them. Being able to have different text when it's hidden or not is great for warning what spoilers it contains.
Okay, thanks for the update. Glad to hear they'll be having tables also.
Since tildes uses markdown you should have
strikethroughalready.Edit: Nevermind, apparently it doesn't. I could have sworn it used github flavored markdown...
I believe strikethrough markdown was disabled because it currently caused issues with linking like ~tildes, and will be enabled in the future. There are similar plans for tables and some sort of spoiler system to added.
Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation!
~ does use GFM, but currently the extensions are disabled, for the reasons @ZaphodBeebblebrox mentioned.
