Perhaps you should say this on Gitlab, there's really nothing to discuss with the community with this request.
Posting bugs/requests here is fine. People can use Gitlab if they like, but it's not mandatory.
I may choose to not say anything... I toggled image support again and now the voting button does work without images. I'll test this further.
The only images on the site are the Tildes logo and all the favicons next to link topics, so the voting buttons shouldn't be affected in any way.
I'll try to test it more... but the crappy connection makes it harder :P

It originally did that and people preferred it not showing up until there was at least one vote.
