While on the search page, make clicking links to your "subscriptions" move the search to that board.

I was looking to see if anyone had talked about the TV show Person Of Interest and forgot to go to ~tv before searching.

I know its not a major thing since it only took me a few seconds click to the right place and search there, but it might be nice if you could filter the general search results from the sidebar instead of just viewing the board you clicked.

Predictability is a cornerstone of good UI design and this breaks from that convention IMO, as clicking group names in the sidebar everywhere else just takes you to the main group page, which means having it not do the same in the search results page might lead to confusion and frustration.

I do like the idea of being able to quickly switch your search results between groups though, but I just think this would need to be done via another clearer and more explicit means:

E.g. a "Search in this group" link next to the group names in the sidebar, or perhaps a list of groups to search within at the top of the results page, similar to the "Search results from inside ~ā€¨group only. Search all groups" link when searching from a group page.

edit: Another option may be to have a checkbox beside each group name in the search results sidebar, which the user can click to have the search exclude/include those groups from the results. However, that idea would likely require a lot more work to develop and implement.

p.s. I have added a suggestion+investigate Gitlab issue for this idea:
