A lot of others here have covered many of the broader interpretations of "politics", but I'll go ahead and toss out something I've noticed and that you articulated in the linked thread. Not so much on Tildes, but I've frequently seen "politics" be used as a sort of shorthand for "existing outside of the status quo".

For example: pretty much since I've been online, the presence of any queer-identifying person has been treated by large portions of the population as "politics". If I casually mentioned I was gay in a gaming subreddit, for example, I'd be accused of "bringing politics to the conversation" just as devs would be criticized for "bringing politics to games" should they include any sort of LGBT character in their releases. While these things can certainly be done in an overtly political manner, more often than not, a disdain for "overt politics" was used to shut down relatively apolitical people who were simply existing as minorities or had unpopular ideas.

You can see this in plenty of other places, with a criticism of "politics" morphing into a sort of shield for discrimination or hegemony. Rather than openly positioning oneself as being against or uncomfortable with specific people, particularly minorities, people will instead be against "politics" which appears more socially acceptable and palatable to wider audiences.

Anything that involves people is political, as politics is the management of people. "The Personal is Political," and all that.

Politics happens when two or more people need to agree on a course of action. Note that in an online conversation, we usually don't need to agree. Each person could state their position and we could leave it at that. And in uncontroversial subjects, often that happens.

Things get more dicey, though, when there are positions that are considered unacceptable, for whatever reason. In particular, attempts to persuade often result in frustration.

Here's an etymological definition, which is broadly in line with how the term is used in political science as well.
