Even after fourteen seasons, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia continues to be funny, innovative, and deeply offensive. How does a show so politically incorrect survive for so long?

It's not really 'politically incorrect' though in the same way that most things are politically incorrect. The difference is in how it treats the subjects and their behaviour. So for example, in the big bang theory the misogyny of the nerds is allowed to exist, and while it is mentioned, nothing happens to the characters (in fact, they gain rewards while possessing those actions and beliefs). Meanwhile, in It's Always Sunny, while they have shitty opinions and shitty behaviour, it repeatedly does not work out for them, and the comedy is in laughing at them because of that.

    1. The rule of funny.

    2. Sunny makes it very clear that their characters are complete idiots with no sense of ethics, none of their actions are commendable in any possible way and every moral human being should strive to be their very opposite. In that sense, Sunny is extremely politically correct. Seinfeld would be a similar (much milder) example.
