Also heard good things about Mr. Robot, but I fell off the wagon after Season 2, and when I tried to catch up with 3, it was a bit of a slog. Anyone want to sell me on why I should catch up?

What was a slog about it for you? I've remained interested in it despite general confusion about why they're doing what when, but it's fun to see the puzzle revealed at the end of the seasons.

I went from watching live when I had cable, to noticing Season 3 dropped on Prime, and I just wasn't getting hooked in the first couple episodes of Season 3. I was also kind of annoyed at the show for teasing out plot points that didn't really go anywhere, and for Elliot being the special kind of smart that takes 2 minutes to plan out 5/9 and 4 months to put together that "maybe this wasn't a good idea." Maybe my tastes changed, or maybe my time out of the loop made me bitter.

Yeah, I finished up to Season 2, and it kind of has the same issue as Handmaid's Tale in that this would be super compelling if it wasn't on our doorstep, and even then, it was a bit of a dystopia porn operating on the novelty of "Hey everything's shit, now you can cheer our heroes on for fighting the system by living and resisting. Bet this makes you feel things, huh?"

The Man in the High Castle

I'm a fan of all things related to Philip K. Dick but I did not read this book.

I watched about one season of the show and found it too melodramatic. The performances are corny and the main character, someone who was supposed to be poor, looks like a top-model 100% of the time. The cinematography is boring and bureaucratic, as well as the soundtrack. I wanted to watch more, but I'll settle for the book. None of the adjectives I used for this show can describe the brilliant writing of Philip K. Dick.

Greatest Events of WWII in Colour is a follow-up to World War II in Color (it's unclear for me if they're made by the same people. Netflix seems to have acquired the brand). It retells the story of WWII with a lot of new facts and details, working as a great compliment to the first show.

The colorization is very well done but it is just an extra for me. I would enjoy it in black and white too.

At least in my region, they're both on Netflix.

I'm also re-watching Peep Show. What a gem of British comedy!

Okay, I'm a little late to this thread, but...

I'm revisiting Home Improvement (I watched it quite regularly as a child) and...it's interesting! Like many of these shows, the man sucks...but pretty much every episode (so far) is a lesson on how to suck less as a man. Sometimes kinda clumsily..but 🤷

Anyway, when I was a kid I just enjoyed watching the stupid physical comedy bits. But it gets pretty real about relationship stuff even in the first episode! (I feel like some of these comedies wait before they tackle heavy issues)

Hmm...I think I'll revisit other shows I enjoyed as a kid that may have had messages I missed due to y'know general lack of development as a person.

Fully agreed on Watchmen, great explanation. It's fun watching it with my wife who has not read the graphic novel. She's really into it despite and maybe because of its bizarreness, without any context. I do wish they would explain Dr. Manhattan a little bit more for her sake and for others who aren't familiar, though I am wondering if they'll have a grand reveal at some point introducing him.
