Is the FAA beholden to the public which pays for its supposed oversight, or to the industry it's supposed to be overseeing?

I don't buy the argument that regular people like you and I are any less culpable. As investors in our economy, participating Capitalists if you will, we should be doing all we can to vote in politicians and policies that discourage predatory behavior.

Maybe you're very active in this regard, but these days I'm mainly politically active at the voting booth.

Private equity firms operate this way by design - they explicitly cater to people who are living socialist caricatures of capitalists, the ultra-rich who have zero qualms about grinding the country into dust and dooming the entire planet just to enhance their bottom lines

They are catering to your and my investing in business to fund our retirement savings. In the U.S. that puts it on us to vote in and support policy and law that explicitly makes this behavior unprofitable.

I'll try to be subtle. Or maybe I won't. The crapification of society leaves pockets of value that no one wants. I pick them up off the street. Books, sometimes great ones. Music, The Best of the Best. And some of the best distillations of knowledge that people scoff at.

There's this thing you might not have heard about it's called the public library . There are even a few pockets of the internet where value can be found. Like r/simple living on Reddit, and r/books. Like tildes. CDs, the kind you invest in have been great for me even as people on Wall Street Bets make and lose fortunes.

One of the greatest treasures I've found is my little Progressive Methodist church, where genuine people try to help other people, and find themselves by losing themselves in the interests of a bigger cause. I admire people who go against the grain and find their way ignoring the Madding Crowd.

So kudos to you for stepping out. You aren't alone.

I doubt many of those buying read the required listing of risks involved in the company.

The primary one is the Redditors themselves. Now, if the company can grow its customer base and quickly pivot from the unique customer driven structure it was based on to one JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, then sure, profit is possible.

But one day in, I've already seen the quality of posts dropping, which I suspect is from moderator decisions across the board. Time will tell.

The Extraordinary Attorney Woo, about a young autistic woman woman who becomes an attorney for a big law firm in Seoul, I belive. It's absolutely delightful and gracefully rises above the Korean romcoms.

Fisk is a comedy about another attorney. But since it's in Australia, it's quite different. Finally Heartland, a long running Canadian family drama, is absolutely gorgeous.

All these are Netflix which is the only thing I stream, frugal I am.

Later they sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians to Jesus to catch him in his words. They came to him and said, “Teacher, we know that you are a man of integrity. You aren’t swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are; but you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay the imperial tax to Caesar or not? Should we pay or shouldn’t we?” But Jesus knew their hypocrisy. “Why are you trying to trap me?” he asked. “Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.” They brought the coin, and he asked them, “Whose image is this? And whose inscription?” “Caesar’s,” they replied. Then Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.”

*quote from Peanuts, by Charles Schulz, scraped by Don Quixote's still human brain.

Thus endeth search as we have come to know it. Ironic that the term webcrawler, invented by Stan Lee was itself scraped from Marvel Comics in the early days of the World Wide Web.
