Those crazy deals you mention are really common at places like Dollar General (if you have one). They are also notorious for listing a discount that's not even in the system, so you have to watch them like a hawk and call out any "mistakes". Contrast that with my local Publix who will proactively tell me if I missed picking up items that were part of a BOGO or something similar.

I would gladly use metric over imperial, but my country likes to be obtuse. Having lived in Europe for several years, I much prefer metric.

16? Not sure the objective of the question. Sure, I can do the math and in that case I did. But having them next to each other and switching up units is, as far as I can tell, meant to confuse.

I was buying something at the supermarket yesterday and they had the same item in different sizes right next to each other. They have the unit price next to the total, but on the smaller item the unit was pounds and on the larger one it was ounces. Very annoying and highly misleading.

Didn't read that link, but I read about the deal earlier this week and it's super shady. They are saddling Asmodee with close to $1B in debt to pay down other Embracer (but not Asmodee) debts.

Needing a vacation after my vacation is the worst feeling for me. It's why I stopped planning vacations and just started going with the flow.

Over the years I've done both and I have to say, minimal planning has always been the best. We get a general idea of what we'd like to do and then plan (very) roughly around that. If we decide we want to just relax, we don't sweat any previous plans. If we find someplace interesting and just want to stay., we do that instead. For things that require reservations, we make those in advance and will use those as small anchor points. If we really aren't feeling it, we'll skip those as well.

I guess I'd sum it up by saying that a vacation should be relaxing. Tight and/or rigid schedules are generally not relaxing.

They are equally distasteful for different reasons and I have a visceral hate for smelling either. And I'm all for them being legal, I just don't want to be subjected to smelling them.

I was born in the US, live in the US, and I cook by metric weights. I know it's a small sample size, but once you teach someone to cook by (metric) weights they can quickly realize the utility.

I feel like in that case they should just invest a bunch of cash in a low risk instrument and make more that 2%. Of course, the reality is more likely that their profit is greater but through creative accounting it's not. But, I'm not an expert in any of this, so I'm quite possibly wrong.

As someone that's used computers since the C64 and writes software every day, I worry about old age because companies can't just leave a working interface alone. They all feel this constant need to tweak things. That's fine, but annoying, to most people. As you get older your plasticity to change decreases and those kinds of UI changes become bigger and bigger problems.
