From what I gleaned from my optometrist, the key is in not letting your eyes settle to one focal distance as "default". Something as little as looking off 20 ft. away every 15-20 minutes is enough to "exercise" your eyes. I spend most of my days in front of screens one way or the other, so I've established a habit of looking off at different things around my home or office.

Agreed, I always hated the button placements on the S controller. I'm glad they took a page from the DualShock and turned the black/white buttons into the bumpers for the Xbox 360 controller. I've also appreciated the improved ergonomics in every generation of proceeding Xbox controllers, the current Series X one feels very solid in the hand in a way that even the Xbox 360 iteration didn't.

I've found myself back on the seas after Crave originally secured that deal with HBO (and also the BBC), especially since they were only offering 720p/stereo at best for a much higher cost than HBO Max delivering 1080p/surround sound in the US. And not for any reason other than to counteract the vindictiveness and predatory nature of that deal.

HBO and the BBC clearly don't care about making sure Canadians can access their content in a reasonable quality for a reasonable price. I would have definitely considered an HBO Max subscription or a BBC view license if it was directly offered but they chose to let Canadians be exploited by a greedy telecom instead. Maybe it's vindictive but simply ignoring it and avoiding their content doesn't feel like a strong enough response when I am actually interested in their content, so instead I'll show that the seas are still open, convenient, and offer better quality without making me feel exploited.

Looking it up, it seems Crazy Taxi on Dreamcast used the triggers for acceleration/braking. That seems pretty ahead of its time. I never had access to a Dreamcast contemporaneously—it seemed like nobody really owned one in this region—so it did sail by, unfortunately.

I know there were rumours about a Dreamcast/Xbox connection, I wouldn't be surprised if the original Xbox controller was somewhat based on the Dreamcast one.

Yeah, effectively the Xbox controller changed how people used the shoulder buttons by swapping to a trigger style instead of treating it like yet another face button, and shooters took off to become the dominant genre thanks to Halo's runaway success. Halo gets a lot of credit for redefining the standard control scheme for shooters by popularizing twin-stick controls but its influence on how people understand controller ergonomics is understated.

The DualShock 2 arguably proved the utility of analogue inputs but the Xbox controller showed that triggers were the way forward. It's understandable why analogue face buttons got phased out in favour of analogue trigger input. You just don't need that many analogue inputs for most games. Even the Metal Gear Solid games had it limited to just two of the four buttons IIRC.

They have dedicated fanbases and have never stopped being involved in the music industry. Chris Brown's career is a pale shadow of what it could have been but Kanye is simply too popular to go away in short order and his talent for production is still undeniably good even if nobody wants to hear what he has to say.

The entire album of Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, really. He admits to a lot of different things, explicitly and not, throughout the album. Oddly, he says a lot of things that Drake thought he was revealing in his disses, and based on Drake's latest response it does not seem like Drake has actually listened to (or, worse, is capable of understanding) the album. Kendrick having marital problems should absolutely not be a surprise to anyone who listened to it. The whole album is about Kendrick using himself as an example of how deep generational trauma goes in the Black community, why there are so many instances of different kinds of abuse in it, and how it results in toxic relationships that poison the children involved.

The domestic violence would be unfortunate if true but it would only be a seriously big problem to Kendrick's reputation if it happened recently i.e. since 2018 or so (the timeframe established in Mr. Morale was that it was five years of "work"), when he's supposed to be a new man who has learned how to be a good partner finally. Kendrick describes himself as a terrible partner who has done many bad things as a partner before that point. This album is basically an exploration of his therapy where part of what he learned is that hiding these sins away or not acknowledging it sets people on a dangerous path of passing it down to the next generation.

For anyone that hasn't heard it, I'd recommend giving it a listen. It's one of the heaviest albums you'll ever here with some of the most shocking and heart-wrenching sequences you'll experience in music. "We Cry Together" is a "song" that I think many people refuse to listen to again after going through it, many have reported that it felt far too real of their own parents growing up.

It was Michael Jackson, not Bill Cosby, and that was years prior to the documentary which seems to have settled the matter on Michael Jackson. It wasn't really a defense of Michael Jackson, that section was a list of names of famous people who got betrayed in some way.

It's respect—but then tomorrow, put my back against the wall
How many leaders you said you needed then left 'em for dead?
Is it Moses? Is it Huey Newton or Detroit Red?
Is it Martin Luther? JFK? Shooter—you assassin
Is it Jackie? Is it Jesse? Oh, I know it's Michael Jackson—oh

It was still up in the air about whether Michael Jackson really had or had not abused children and many believed it was another trump up case still. He may not have used the name if this song was written after Leaving Neverland came out, and notably Kendrick likened himself more as Prince in opposition of Drake as Michael Jackson (though this may be because Drake is a big Michael Jackson fan) in Like That.

And another one just came out already. This has been truly unbelievable. This isn't just about music anymore, this is deeply personal and it is insane to see a personal hatred playing out so publicly.

The music output from this has been jaw-dropping from both sides, and it is still going on. We've had an album's worth of content between these two with some of the most emotionally draining art ever put out.

It's that taking the money to be a store exclusive and being tied to the limitations of your publisher are two distinct things. One is a lot more understandable than the other when the alternative is that the game does not exist at all.

No other publisher would have required this, sure, but they also weren't willing to fund Alan Wake 2 (without significant compromises at least).

That's only a recent change. They both tried that and failed. For a while, neither were putting their games on Steam either because they were pushing their own storefronts (and EGS as well in Ubisoft's case). They both came back to Steam after a few years.

2022: Ubisoft PC Games Returning to Steam Starting With Assassin's Creed Valhalla

They didn't take Epic money for exclusivity (I don't think that's still happening in general anymore). Epic funded and published the game, same with Alan Wake Remastered.

A similar situation happened with the Bayonetta games where 2 and 3 are Switch exclusives whereas the first was on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. When asked by fans why they did this, the devs simply responded because Nintendo paid for it and there would not be a Bayonetta 2 or 3 otherwise without them. It's not like anyone else was offering to allow them to make the games.

It doesn't seem like anyone else was champing at the bit to get Alan Wake 2 made. Microsoft sat on the rights to the series for years themselves because it was never a big seller and Remedy weren't putting out anything flying off the shelves that would have tipped the scales at the time.

That all said, I'm hoping by the time I upgrade my PC into a state where it can play AW2 at the quality I want, it'll be available on Steam considering the EGS seemingly isn't doing too well, and I've already had more than my fair share of major issues with that launcher.

It's doubtful anything will come of this. BSG is a Russian developer that operates through a WeWork office in London. They were always a small, very shady developer run by an egomaniac. This isn't some big publicly traded company and they were always chasing the money to some degree, but this is truly another level. I'm betting the game is on its last legs after the failure that was Arena because it does not make any sense why they would do this otherwise.

I have heard there's a mod that allows you play single player and doesn't wipe your progress. Essentially turning the game into PvE. My friends who are still interested in the game told me it's the only way they play nowadays.
