I agree with the idea of project performance based pay, there’s a reason it became the sustainable model before the streaming “”disruption””. But the problem kind of becomes that the platforms have much more control over what people watch than TV stations did. There’s stories of executives giving shows terrible timeslots to sink them because of personal grudges or pride, and burying shows is more effective than ever on a streaming service which has no reliable place for egalitarian release information, only targeted algorithmically determined presentation.

Piastri kept his car on track and in control. Racing hard and pushing the other car to the edge isn’t a penalty, but outbraking yourself to the point where you’re basically throwing your car against the other guy is. Think of it this way, if Lewis or Logan hadn’t been there, KMag would’ve ended up off track regardless, the lines he was taking were purpose built for pushing the other off track instead of properly defending or overtaking a position.

I haven’t been able to get a clear answer on this: can you connect it and use it as just a second controller for the PS5? It’s too expensive for me otherwise, but if it can also work as a second controller in a pinch, and a normal controller is already $70 full price, the price of the Portal gets much more justifiable.

The whole “companies don’t understand that people will just pirate” assumes that it’s most profitable for most companies to have as many paying subscribers as possible instead of a smaller install base at a higher per subscriber profit, which isn’t necessarily the case. Plus, I haven’t seen any data on this but my initial thought is that people with the ability and knowledge of pirating probably have more of an inclination to cancel services month to month depending on their needs.

I very often write out a reply to something that I disagree with someone on in a forum or a Discord server, and then just click cancel instead of send. (I considered it just before posting this comment, actually.) It’s not a matter of not standing by what I said or even thinking it’s not a meaningful contribution, it’s a matter of getting to the final “post” button and realizing I don’t actually care enough about the topic at hand to start an argument, or I don’t value the other person’s contribution to the conversation enough to actively invite it by responding to them.

The charging network will be a tempting place to squeeze more cash out of users.

Tesla basically won the charging plug wars in the US, almost every major car company and charging network is adopting NACS as the standard plug. This means both that Tesla’s charging network exclusivity advantage is going to lessen and that Tesla owners will have more options for charging without adapters and associated headaches, so it’s a bit of a mixed bag when considering the charging advantages.

Red Bull is a marketing company above all else and Ricciardo sells like gangbusters. Checo is massively popular in the US, the fastest growing market for the sport, and anyone but Ricciardo will force them to give up a huge chunk of that pie. If they can get even a half decent performance from him I think they’ll be happy to put him in the car, especially since they’re likely to keep dominating with Max for a few years.

As for Sainz, I imagine his entourage is probably too much of a headache for Red Bull to sign him.

Glad to see this. Sargeant is a rookie even among rookies, and Williams knew that he was rushed into F1. I don’t expect him to light the world on fire or even stick around after next year, but this is the right thing to do.

P2 in Constructors this year was an absolute clown show. Mercedes and Ferrari trading blows on who could bottle it harder, down to the wire. You can blame Ferrari strategy for Sainz’ performance but ultimately, this is a terrible racetrack, he qualified himself in a woeful position, and had pretty poor race pace, so they had to take a wild gamble somewhere.

Brilliant drive from Yuki, who managed to score points despite AlphaTauri’s best efforts. If Sargeant is sticking around for next year, I hope he can come out of the gate running because otherwise Williams could be in trouble.

Still seems like there’s use cases where this could replace lithium batteries right? There’s plenty of devices and gadgets that spend most of the time on chargers and don’t actually need super long battery performance. Cordless vacuums (and robot vacs) and a whole host of kitchen gadgets come to mind.

Top notch race. A shame that that quali result and that straight line speed led to both Williams out of points. Shout outs to Ocon and Stroll, carved their way up the field really impressively.

In Mexico (and most other tracks with doubled DRS with single detection point) it’s basically a matter of overtaking being pretty difficult and neither DRS straight being super long on its own, and there not being enough of a distance between the two zones to assess a gap between cars properly. In Mexico specifically, the altitude also makes DRS very weak so it doesn’t actually end up mattering that much anyway.
