I'd say I'm surprised or disgusted but honestly I'm anything but. It's the military (industrial complex), to put it bluntly, they make money by killing. It's not a bastion of compassion nor kindness and is home to some of the most gruesome rationalizations that a human can fathom. After a lifetime of seeing how they treat their own (let alone others) nothing that collection of organizations does will ever catch me off guard.

I'm not some peace loving hippie type other. I understand the need for violence when dealing with violence but the degree of corruption (ethical and otherwise) that is, for lack of a better term, contained within the framework we identify as the military industrial complex is second to none. If it were feasible I'd say sack the lot and start fresh but I know full well that it's not logistically possible plus they'd just assassinate anyone who tried. We're held hostage by the machine itself.

Referenced in the piece but definitely worth reading is this by the author as well: https://joshuakors.com/part3.htm

Ehhhhhhhh. I mean look, I'm on team (I have a non-cis identity) but even I'm not willing to go that far.

I appreciate the other person saw someone that was breaking social norms of the time and worked as an ad-hoc role model figure for them when society was desperately lacking representation but Klinger was a desperate man who tried a multitude of things. (hang glider back to the states, body suit during a heatwave, enrolling to West Point and cheating to get expelled - this one is before the dressing I think, etc etc)

There's an argument, I suppose, for "well when the dress didn't work why didn't he just ditch it and try something else?" and I'd say to that that in fact he did. His interactions with Sidney were rife with back and forths about how he can and should switch up his game and Klinger did try various things. In fact he was examined by Major Freedman (Sidney) in a later episode after he replaced Rader, and when Sidney told Klinger that the Section Eight he'd give him would "remain on his permanent record" and that "you would have to stay a transvestite for the rest of your life", he refused to accept it.

Now you could argue I suppose that Klinger was afraid/aware of society being unaccepting and wanted to keep his options open, decide on his own terms, etc. but he was given the chance to live his life with the women's clothes and he rejected it.

There could be any number of reasons but in the spin-off series AfterMASH Klinger can once again be found only this time he's in more traditional men's clothing image 1 image 2 image 3 image 4.

So, as I said I don't think the evidence is there for Klinger to be considered trans full-stop at least and of course all of this is discussing a fictional character so there's death of the artist stuff to consider as well but for me, no, Klinger isn't trans.

But really, does it matter? It's art and people interpret as they see it and get what they want and (in this instance especially) need from it.

Can we compromise on something like not having companies weaponizing automated aerial surveillance technologies in order to further capitalize upon every single aspect of our lives? Can we have a single thing that isn't spied upon, turned against us and seen as a means to an end goal of increased profits? Where does this eventually go? It's already dystopian as fuck and getting weirder and worse by the day. This is one example in a world's worth of examples. What happens when we've got aerial nudes stored up in just a random ass insurance database? Why the fuck does AllState get to photograph me sunbathing naked?

It just seems to me that "Taking pictures of private property from public space should obviously be legal" is a gross blanket statement that eliminates any vestige of even the concept of privacy we may have at this point.

Given the recent track record of the likes of Warner Brothers/Discovery canceling things for writeoff purposes, Netflix's historic reputation for just bad decision making leading to early cancellation, and the general min-maxing that corporate controlled streaming platforms are engaging in I'd actually wager that it's a not the deciding factor any longer. Once upon a time it was but it seems with the hyper-consolidation and the accountants running things the reasons now are more than just viewer numbers. Hell these days they don't even care to show things they make before they shitcan them.

In this instance though? It's just not a good show...lol.

Management did the typical shit that all C suites tend to do.

Also I don't buy for one second that whoever was inserting the "memes" into the game assets was doing it unintentionally. Especially since they hired a legal investigations group after nothing was found and it was deemed internally to be "unintentional". They got caught and started to cover their asses legally.

Shame about it all. Not my type of games but I know a bunch of people who those games meant something to. Glad to see the games aren't tainted but the studio seems fucked.

Americans in enough numbers won't care/our system is rigged effectively enough that it won't matter. Between the 70-80 million people who believe things like Donald Trump is good for the country, the oligarchical control of the system and the general ennui of the every-person who has been ground down by this totalitarian nightmare state it's just not very recoverable at the Federal level...or at least won't be for a very long time. We're in pure harm reduction mode with options like Biden at this point. Then you have the "white moderate" problem. I use this term specifically as it's the term MLK Jr. used in his Letter from a Birmingham Jail. Between the ones who actively are doing harm and the ones that think they can be reasoned with/disagree with taking the steps necessary for countering the rise of fascism we face a dauntingly uphill battle at this point.

The "not quite a cesspool" to "hey this place is actually livable" states will do their best to protect the bodily autonomy of their residents but the ones mired in the cult of death will continue on with their furtherance of the re-enslavement of women as broodmares for the church/nation-state just as they are continuing their agendas against any and all rights afforded to POC/LGBTQ+/non-believers/etc.

It's not a solution but if someone is in a vulnerable position, these days I see if we can't just get them relocated somewhere that isn't nightmare fuel. I know it can sound defeatist but purely pragmatically a bunch of these locations aren't worth fighting for and those of us with the energy for a fight should concentrate on shoring up the defenses (legal, resource and sadly otherwise) in locations that have sufficient demographics to fend off this Christo-capitalist-fascism or however you choose to describe what's occurring.

I have no idea if this is useful or not but here's an AI generated summary of the video.

    Summary (provided by NoteGPT):
PVP in MMO RPGs is becoming less popular due to the high barrier to entry and the difficulty in balancing rewards, risk, and skill. Battlegrounds and Battle Royale game modes have been attempts to make PVP more accessible, but they have their limitations.

    Highlights
0:34 PVP has been a significant part of gaming for over three decades, but in MMO RPGs, it has started to decline.
2:07 PVP needs to offer rewarding experiences, with loot drops or progress towards specific rewards.
3:28 Balancing risk is crucial, as too much risk can discourage players from engaging in PVP.
5:02 Skill is a defining factor in PVP, offering a unique experience compared to PVE.
6:09 Accessibility is a challenge in MMO RPGs, as the average player has become more skilled and knowledgeable.
8:31 Battlegrounds and Battle Royale game modes have tried to make PVP more accessible, but they have their limitations.
10:40 Balancing rewards, risk, and skill in PVP is a challenging task for game designers.

    Key Insights
PVP in MMO RPGs is declining due to the high barrier to entry, requiring time investment and knowledge to be competitive.
Battlegrounds and Battle Royale game modes offer accessible PVP experiences but may not satisfy players looking for a true test of skill.
Balancing rewards, risk, and skill in PVP is crucial for creating engaging and compelling experiences.
The decline of PVP in MMO RPGs highlights the changing landscape of gaming and the increasing skill level of players.
Accessibility is a significant challenge in MMO RPGs when it comes to PVP, as the average player has become more skilled, requiring a low barrier to entry.
The success of PVP game modes like Battlegrounds and Battle Royale shows that there is still a demand for PVP experiences in MMO RPGs, but finding the right balance remains a challenge.
Game designers need to consider the unique challenges of balancing rewards, risk, and skill in PVP to create engaging and accessible experiences.

You use what's called a SCOBY or a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast. It's a weird rubbery puck like object that grows on the top in layers and you ferment at room temperature.

    • Yes (kombucha).
    • Not many lessons learned as I was already quite adept at mycological production so things -like cleanliness, etc were all things I was familiar with.
    • Nope (besides it wasn't that bad).
    • Bottle. Cobalt blue latch style bottles.
    • I made an orange syrup kombucha that was so similar to orange crush soda. Delicious. The raspberry/blueberry reduction was great too.
    • I would do an organic white tea kombucha brew that went through a fermentation in large glass containers. Then when it was ready I'd double ferment in their bottles in which I would add various syrup reductions that I made - usually fruit type stuff. Label and drop into the storage room for later consumption.

Never had anything blow up on me (bottle failure) but I certainly had the ceiling coated a couple times with a particularly active secondary fermentation cycle when I'd open a bottle. lol

As someone who is gay and has some genderfluidity about them AND works as anarchist activist/community organizer I can say with confidence the backstabbing is firmly just human nature. It transcends LGBT advocacy and extends into every single arena of human life. Our history is wrought with in group/out group fighting even amongst the marginalized and oppressed. sigh It can be mitigated with personal experience and exposure to people to share their stories but it is always arduous and not 100% so inevitably bad actors will enter the fray which complicates things with those that are simply misled.

On a side note, as someone who has modified their body to fit their image but maintains a hormone panel that contradicts those changes I feel your...discomfort and unease with many spaces. I'm sorry that the ones you've dealt with didn't have someone helming them that understood that the spectrum of human experience really has very few limits and it's the variety that makes us amazing. Keep your head up and keep fighting the fight if you can. Nothing but love from one to another. <3
