Here’s the thing: it’s not me rejecting your proposal, it’s the overwhelming majority of the population of the planet.

Well, I've actually only just proposed it here, so I don't think you can even know that the majority of the planet rejects it? You don't speak for everyone.

We can, and we will, at least within the time frame where we have a chance of mitigating climate change. That’s a constraint in the system that we need to address and not pretend that it doesn’t exist.

Is there any evidence we can? Or you just have faith in the current systems and technology? Because there is very much evidence that our current practices are causing this whole thing. We can actually have a meaningful impact by actively reducing and eliminating the practices known to be causing the climate crisis. It might not be an easy solution, and a lot of people are going to need convincing, but it's the only viable option we currently have.

I mean, proposal rejected. Now what?

The health of the earth and it's inhabitants will continue to degrade at an increasing rate. We can't just keep mass producing crap we don't need, made out of crap that is harmful to us and the environment and expect any other result.

It's pretty clear what is causing climate change, and we need to stop doing that.

I really think you shouldn't be so quick to dismiss my proposal, it's a good one!

Mammoth will be able to capture nearly 10 times as much CO2 as Orca once it’s fully operational, around 36,000 tons of carbon dioxide a year. That’s still not a lot of carbon, considering Microsoft alone emitted close to 13 million metric tons of carbon dioxide in 2022

This seems massively ineffective, and possibly a complete waste of time. I propose we build less stuff instead and focus on protecting nature while punishing companies that are actively destroying the environment and producing no public good.

I'm looking for an article that was posted on Tildes in the last year I believe, on online communities and moderation.

I think it was a link to someones personal blog and the author was female. It talked about the challenges of moderating communities with free speech as a core value, because all it takes is a few bad actors pushing that to it's limits and it completely derails the community and puts too much strain on moderators.

The article itself was very good, but I also remember the discussion on tildes was a very good read as well. I have tried searching tildes, using google and chatGPT4 and while I can find a lot of good threads related to this topic, I can't seem to find this one with the article.

    Does anyone remember this article/thread?

I realize it's maybe a long shot and it's just a vague memory, so I apologize if this is an annoying post, but it doesn't hurt to ask?

And, they just released a new EP today!

They scratch that nostalgia itch for me while still bringing something fresh to the genre(s).

I don't believe they have a huge following, but I've been enjoying all their songs heavily and recommend them highly (for whatever that's worth!).

I went a bit hard last week, and increased my weekly run mileage from 26km to 39. I've generally been much more cautious about increasing my mileage and generally try to follow the 10% rule (loosely). But I had a small mental health crisis last week and running has sort of been how I cope with and process difficult emotions.

It was kind of cool to push myself to my limit. I did some long, beautiful trail runs, a sprinting interval run, and finished off the week with a long countryside road run. On those last few kilometres, my leg muscles were fucking dead. I knew I had overdone it a bit, but it felt good in a weird masochistic sort of way.

So, I've only done two 5k easy runs so far this week, and lots of stretching, foam rolling and light yoga/calisthenics the rest of the week. I think it worked out, because I woke up today, no sore legs, no wonky knee, and I did a trail run this morning feeling great the whole time. It was rainy and cool, which is my favourite running weather.

(Does anyone else love running in the rain? It just makes me feel like a total bad ass or something. I love it.)

Anyways, my plan is to do a long(ish) easy run tomorrow: maybe ~8 kilometres at a slow pace, on flat road. After a relaxing recovery day on Sunday, I'm going to go hard again next week, but maybe not as hard as last week and also maybe this time under a better mental state.

Also, after previously not having many friends on Strava, I started following a few random people in my area, and I actually really enjoy seeing other peoples runs. Especially when they run in the same area as me, it's cool to see the differences in our routes, compare times and stuff. One guy seems to have a lot of similar interests as me and is around the same age, and I kind of hope we become best friends in real life hahaha.

Here's a pop punk song by a band I bet you've never heard of. Their other stuff is a bit more metal/emo but with punk elements throughout. If you like that song, you might also like this one.

I'm looking for a good all around pocket knife for general camping/hiking. Like most things, I don't want to pay a ton but want something with decent enough quality that it doesn't become a piece of garbage in ten years.

I read that his therapist recommended he write some happier songs and this was the result. I thought that was cool, and it's definitely a departure from his usual tone.

I've also been micro-dosing magic mushrooms and going for hikes, and find it a healthy way to process my thoughts and emotions.

Last time I posted here, I was just starting my 5k training, and this week I did my first 10k trail run.

It's been an awesome journey. I did two 5k races, with times of 23:44 & 23:00 respectively. Way better than I thought possible for myself. I also placed 11th and 19th overall in each race which is also way better than I ever thought possible.

I'm very proud of myself. I've been going through some crazy stuff these last few months and running has been a refuge for me.

I just got a new pair of trail running shoes and have been loving rotating between road running and trails. Mixing things up keeps things interesting for me.

I've been slacking a lot on my strength training because I've been enjoying my runs so much. I just started doing some yoga again the last few weeks and I can definitely notice some strength loss.

Whoops! I just don't have the time to dedicate to all my fitness goals.
