I recently played through KCD1 again (2nd time through). I hope they make combat interesting, rather than realistic in the sequel. The KCD1 combat was so dull, once all of the combos and tricks are given to the player, that I actually dreaded entering fights because of the monotony. I ended up doing stealth takedowns whenever possible in both runs just to avoid the tedium of fights. Realism? Maybe. Fun? Meh.

I hope they don't. It can definitely be improved but KCD did things that no other games even tried, it would be a real shame for them to drift away from what made it unique.

We have a few comments in here asking to gamify it more and I believe that would cause me to completely lose interest. If you want gamey combat and systems, play Skyrim instead (a game I also like) and don't drag a game with interesting systems and niche appeal down with it.

KC:D is easily my favorite game of the last 10 years. Sure it's full of jank, but it wouldn't be the same without all the ambition embedded within and would end up just being another generic open world game. This is a game I finished and yet still go back to to do other random quests and things I didn't finish.

My only real complaint is that after getting the Master Stroke, combat becomes trivial, but maybe that's your reward for making it so far in the game by that point.

        Jesus Christ, be praised.

Love this game so much but I actually DNF'd it because of the tedium in various aspects of the game.

Weird that I still love it, right? But I found it very captivating overall, until some of the flaws overwhelmed that feeling and I decided I had gotten my money's worth from the time I had spent in it.

Main issues for me were the combat (which many people love), inventory management, and the too-big and too-empty map. Also, just the general movement jank at times, particularly on the horse.

They should probably gamify it a bit more and add some QOL improvements, yeah.

When the story is going strong and you're in an interesting town, this game is everything it sets out to be.

Wild. KCD is one of, if not outright, my favorite games of all time, and it's entirely because of the combat system.

Morrowind is also near my top all time list and watching Bethesda slide into mediocrity with every single subsequent release has been downright painful. I really hope that Warhorse leans in exactly the opposite direction.

Lol I was terrible at fighting. Didn't play it often enough to memorize since I didn't get a lot of time to play. But it was such a good game

I know what you mean. I still mostly liked the combat system. If anything, they could make it harder by not letting you cheese the AI with the same stuff.

KCD1 is my favourite game of all time (and that's a lot of a time). I always thought that KCD2 would never come, because KCD1 looked like it overspent its budget (both time and money), and they would never want to "waste" like that again. I was stunned to see this Steam announcement. If any game is a "shut up and take my money", this would be it.

I've been burned before by a prepurchase (Battefield One), but I think this one won't disappoint. The trailer really hypes me up. Even if it turns out to be a dud (which I highly doubt), I would be happy to have given more support to the dev team retroactively for KCD1.

I guess it makes sense for me to share the link for KCD1, too, since you'll likely want to finish that first before going to KCD2, because the story seems to be a direct continuation. https://store.steampowered.com/app/379430/Kingdom_Come_Deliverance/

Yes, it's one of my favorites too and I typically don't play these types of games. I'm excited for KCD2. Didn't realize they made the characters look like the voice actors! Even better.

I check out the trailer... wait a minute, some of those places look strangely familiar, I know that place! I am not that much of a gamer and I did not know there was a game taking place in Czech lands - thank you for bringing that to my attention. It is cool to see a place I know in a game :-)

There are fun comments on Google Maps for the areas, like people quoting from the game ("Hey, Henry's come to see us!"), and local (modern) businesses replying with stuff like "we welcome KCD fans".

KCD1 won Best Czech Game of the Decade ( https://duckduckgo.com/?q=kcd+czech+game+of+the+decade&ia=web )

Far as I know, there's even tourism due to the 1st game.

I'm actually kind of disappointed by the trailer. One of the things I liked about the first game was how nice and even welcoming the whole world felt - despite some of the brutal things that happened around you, the eternal summer, colorful clothes and many friendly NPCs made it feel like you're on a summer vacation adventure.

This shift in tone is not something I wanted from the game, and Vávra seemed to confirm that it's not just the trailer: "The story and plot of KCD has evolved—it’s darker, deeper, and more cinematic, yet also crueler with pivotal decisions and plot twists that challenge the players’s conscience. Nevertheless, it retains its humor and down-to-earth approach."

More cinematic also often means more mainstream-oriented and streamlined, which would be another big negative for me. I still expect it to be very good and very likely will buy it, but not on release, before I know the details.

However Im sure that for most small villages the tone is going to be much lighter.

HENRY! I played through the first game a few years ago and had a great time with it, even though the ending seemed a bit abrupt. Looking forward to the sequel!
