Comment on Is there a reason the iPad pro "scans" your house every minute? in ~tech
eagle69 Thanks that makes sense, but does it really needs to do that? Whenever you pick up the device it will scan immediately right? This is something that seems to do it with some interval. Thanks that makes sense, but does it really needs to do that? Whenever you pick up the device it will scan immediately right? My wife has an ipad pro, and we have a baby monitor. So I was watching the baby monitor and noticed that her ipad was also in view of the camera. What I also noticed is that her ipad seems to flash an infrared light every minute or so.
After some googling I think this is the lidar scanner, although I'm not 100% sure.
Anyway, does anyone know why her ipad is doing this? It feels pretty creepy that a device is scanning your house all the time. Normally you don't even notice, it's only when you view the iPad pro from a camera that also shows infrared.
Maybe I'm just a little paranoid, but it feels like a privacy violation.

Where I live those are the most rainy and gray days, with very little sun.
So if I ever want to go fossil free, just solar panels aren't going to be the complete solution.

So far it works pretty well, but it's not instant, I sync every 30 minutes (I think you can set it to any interval).
I make most notes from my laptop anyway.

It's pretty obvious, hydrogen is something you need to get at a gas station, while charging an electric car can be done at home, cheaply if you have solar panels.
Hydrogen is still a great solution for heating homes in the months when it's cold and there is very little sunshine, like autumn in Europe.

Now I was pretty lucky already having a job and working in IT (a field where there's always work).
Anyway, what I saw in my country (Netherlands) is that the pension funds actually are a glorified piramid scheme.
During your lifetime you work and pay for retirement, but that money isn't saved for you. It's used to trade stocks and pay the current group of retired people.
This all works really well until the economy and/or population stop growing.
For me it was the reason to completely do it myself and not use the normal pension funds.
