I was following this search the day it was announced, we all genuinely thought it was a lost single released by some one-off band. As it turns out, it really was from an adult film and the running joke was correct all along.
I think what ended up making the search longer was Carl92 (The original poster) not including any moans within his audio snippet, in fact we're pretty much lucky to have the title of the song (Ulterior Motives) in the snippet. The full song itself is extremely good, I can't tell if it would have been a hit in the 80s (It sounds like it would've had moderate sales) but it's up there in the list of 'perfect pop songs'.
Apparently the 17-second clip Carl92 uploaded was the longest section of the song without any moans, strongly indicating that they knew the source was a porno, but were too ashamed to admit it.
