I require PGP capable clients on my personal devices.
Thunderbird for personal Linux desktop. I don’t really like any other GUI app that I’ve tried on Linux. They feel even more half baked than Thunderbird.
Canary Mail on iOS and MacOS devices.
    FairEmail on Android devices.
Currently using mailbox.org and a vanity domain for personal emails.

I wish Tildes let us filter out users.

If you use uBlock Origin, you can add the following custom filters to block a user.

! Filter topics from a specified user (case sensitive)
    tildes.net##article.topic[data-topic-posted-by="Example_Username"]

! Filter comments from a specified user (case sensitive)
    tildes.net##.comment-itself:has(> header > .link-user:has-text(/^Example_Username$/))

More filters are available on the wiki.

You can change the RGB values to modify the background color. For example I picked pure black. from: rgb(48, 48, 48) to: rgb(0, 0, 0) which results in the following filter:...

    And the search results...
The black background is not very black, not as black as Tildes black theme.
    I can live with that.

You can change the RGB values to modify the background color. For example I picked pure black.
    from: rgb(48, 48, 48)
    to: rgb(0, 0, 0)
which results in the following filter:
    lite.duckduckgo.com##html:style(color: rgb(141, 141, 141) !important; background: none repeat scroll 0 0 rgb(0, 0, 0) !important; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue','Segoe UI', Arial, sans-serif;)

But the red text under each result is very muddy.
    Can that be improved?
Make it brighter Crimson or even Orange would look better.

Yes, it's quite hard to read when you modify the background to be dark. It is a simple modification to make since they have a defined css selector class="link-text". I chose to make the links appear in orange with the following filter:

    lite.duckduckgo.com##.link-text:style(color: rgb(255,153,51) !important;)

I strongly recommend learning the basics of HTML and CSS and how to utilize browser developer tools if your goal is to use uBlock Origin filters to modify all of your regularly used sites.

J-Novel Club publishes lots of light novels (and manga) in English (Ascendance of a Bookworm, In Another World With My Smartphone, etc) and they offer DRM-free ebooks direct on their site. They also offer a "streaming" subscription service for pre-publications and ebook rental.

Generally, I search for a series on Novel Updates. That site will have links to the fan translations. The site also catalogs the original Japanese publisher(s) and official English publisher so it's easy to search for the original or English release if you're so inclined.

There's some legwork involved since there's no algorithm.
Fedi.Tips has good advice (actual links to curators and directories in the post).

    Summary of the article:

    • Following hashtags related to topics of interest is an easy way to discover new accounts on those topics. Posts with followed hashtags will appear automatically in your timeline.

    • Joining groups is another way to find new accounts. When you mention a group, your post is shared with all its followers.

    • Following interesting accounts will expose you to more accounts as they share posts from others.

    • Browsing human-run Fediverse directories can help you start discovering accounts to follow in specific topics.

    • Following curator accounts dedicated to sharing posts on specific topics can offer suggestions for interesting accounts.

    • Trending posts on Explore, based on how often they are boosted, can help you find new accounts.

    • Hanging out on timelines, searching hashtags and browsing Local and Federated timelines can help you follow interesting accounts.

    • The StreetPass for Mastodon browser extension gradually builds a list of Mastodon accounts to follow based on websites you browse.

    • Exchanging account addresses with people you know in real life is a reliable way to follow them.

    • Groups share posts on particular topics, so joining relevant groups can expose you to new accounts.

    Added to the wiki: https://tildes.net/~tildes/wiki/customizing_tildes#scripts

One can actually customize the "open in new tab" behavior of topic links, comment links, etc in the built-in site behavior settings.

The username colors and "scroll to top" button are features that are also implemented in the ReExtended extension. I prefer the ReExtended button since there is an option to jump to new comments in addition to a "back to top" button after all new comments have been read.

I didn't see your original post about it a couple days ago.

By the way, you can get the userstyle to work on any Tildes built-in site theme by adding the following selector:

    	body[class|=theme] {
    		--alert-color: #e66b00;
    		...

Import into Stylus and then change the site theme to Dracula. The userstyle actually works to change any of the baked-in Tildes theme, but it's designed to get Dracula to mimic Bauke's old "Baukula" userstyle.

For those who are new to Tildes:
This site has quite a number of wiki pages which are maintained by volunteers (except the ~tildes.official wiki pages, which are the official documentation). Many of these community pages are now out of date, so it's a good time for people to poke around and make some changes.
For more information, including how to gain wiki editing privileges, see the announcement post from 2019.

    A bit of advertising:
For those who don't know, I have been maintaining the Customizing Tildes page since 2020. It is the official successor of the Awesome Tildes project and has numerous suggestions for improving the Tildes experience using userscripts, userstyles, and uBlock Origin's filtering capabilities. Feel free to drop a message if there's something that needs to be added to the wiki.

    The Actual Problem

Changes to the wiki are no longer syncing with the GitLab repository. The last commit on GitLab is from 2021!
