These kinds of advances always blow my mind. I worked as a field archaeologist during my undergrad and eventually moved into remote sensing because the tech archaeologist use is actually pretty cutting edge. OSL, XRF, LiDAR, GPR... There were so many really cool things! But this is just on another level! It's crazy to me, not only that we know so much of the context already, but that we have the technology to read carbonized scrolls and place them within that context. It's just so damn exciting!!!
Pretty interesting stuff! I look forward to hearing updates about the contents of these scrolls. Hope they find more! Article says they've been able to read only around 30% of the content within the scrolls, so hopefully there will be some additional discoveries to be made in the remaining 70%.
I was just watching The Last Crusade last night. I hope this scroll sets off a crazy adventure!
