    While that's good news, the current administration seems to operate with impunity regarding checks and balances. Dollars to donuts says that they print the census questionnaire with the citizenship question anyway, regardless of the courts. Why wouldn't they? It's not like the laws are actually enforced on the executive branch these days.

      They don't need to flout the law so dramatically. The damage may already be done--it has been weeks of headlines linking the Census and a Citizenship question, whereas resolutions like this one...

      They don't need to flout the law so dramatically. The damage may already be done--it has been weeks of headlines linking the Census and a Citizenship question, whereas resolutions like this one often just get a tiny blurb that day as the media moves onto the next topic of contention.

        Yeah, and I feel like the reason they gave up so easily is because they realized they don't need the citizenship question to suppress minorities. They'll just scare them with ad campaigns instead.
