Kent Police assistant chief suspended for displaying Nazi insignia

A Kent Police officer emailed Padilla on Sept. 24, 2020, about his concern that an inappropriate symbol had been posted over Assistant Chief Kammerzell’s nameplate outside his office

Padilla placed Kammerzell on paid administrative leave in March 2021 pending the outcome of the investigation

    received a two-week suspension in July 2021

The details of the incident were released in December after a public records request to the city of Kent by a group called No Secret Police for documents about the discipline and investigation of Kammerzell. That anonymous group emailed the documents Dec. 27 to the Kent Reporter and the Kent City Council.

so he hangs up Nazi insignia on his office door, and someone sends a complaint to the chief. 6 months pass between the complaint and the Nazi being put on paid administrative leave.

he gets 4 months of that paid vacation, then his "punishment" is a two week unpaid vacation. and he's back on the job.

and the details are only coming to light now because a group of muckraking journalists dug it up via public records requests. the police would have preferred to sweep this all under the rug and have it never become public.

Kent is the most ethnically-diverse suburb of Seattle, and the 8th most diverse in the US. and this cop gets to play "oopsie, didn't realize that was Nazi insignia" games and keep his job.
