The whole conspiracy cycle is a bit much. But I absolutely believe some of these policies are designed to simply drive away progressive voters. Florida and Texas were starting to look like they might go blue and both come out with a wave of policies that don't really benefit anyone but make any non Maga type want to flee the state.

I have a 2 year old and I mostly just try not to think about it. We're pretty well off and live in an area that offer some protection against a lot of climate problems. The big danger here is the increasing size and frequency of wildfires.

I'm more worried about the US invading over water or mass migration as the south becomes less liveable.

But I really don't know what I should do to protect my family. Buy a gun and horde food? Learn and teach survival skills? Build a bunker and go full doomsday preper? Most things somehow seem both too extreme and also kind of pointless at the same time.

I'd argue that the symbiote is about ego at all. I've always seen it as a tradeoff of power vs control. It makes you stronger but it'll start controlling you as much as you're controlling it.

Peter lives by the idea that power comes with responsibility and he suffers for it. He can barely maintain personal relationships, his grades suffer dispite being a genius, he's barely making enough to cover rent working for someone that hates him.

The suit feeds on that. Why should he work so hard when he could be stealing? Why doesn't he just kill the villains and save all yhat trouble? Why does he let Flash and Jamison push him around?

Peter has to abandon the suit because it's turning him into a monster. It's trying to make him act against all of his ideals. Goofy dancing just doesn't get this across.

The real problem, as many have said is too many things at once. Doing the entire venom arc, while finishing the green goblin story, and cramming in sandman makes it pretty much impossible to do any of them really well.

He's terrifying, aggressive and barely hanging onto control. Instead we got Peter changing his haircut, dancing down the street and bouncing around a jazz bar. It's crazy anyone thought those were good scenes that should be oj the movie.

Even by the mid 2000s I was torrenting most of my TV. I didn't feel like watching it at a particular time and it was simple to hop on demonoid the next day and grab the latest episode. Or wait till a season was over do I could binge it.

I have an older relative who watches old school TV and tends to just leave it running a lot of the day. It's all home reno shows and Judge Judy style court shows. Just terrible stuff.

Last time I really remember getting excited for TV was when everyone was still really into 24. Prisonbreak and 24 came on back to back and my friends would all gather to watch the new episodes together.

Weirdly the one thing I kinda miss is movie ads. Used to be that everyone knew every movie coming out since you'd see constant ads for them. Now I never know what's playing or coming out. Can't remember the last time a best picture nomination was a movie I had even heard of.

Reddit doesn't have to allow it. It's already full of spam and bot accounts. Usually bots now, just repost old comments to appear as if they have a legit history. Once they're using AI to respond pretty organically, it will be much harder to detect them.

It's going to get to a ridiculous point where every discussion will have a ton of bots posting normal comments, so that when they eventually post their advertising or political comments, they'll look like legit users. It will be pretty easy for a company or a political party to run hundreds or thousands of these bots across various social media just to make it look like regular people like their thing.

I hate to be so reductive to say they're just dumb and racist. But man does it really seem to come down to that a lot of the time.

You can dress it up but it always seems to be just a ton of people who don't understand why bad things are happening to them. They either can't or wont look at the real situation or causes and blindly trust some of the most obviously untrustworthy prople. Then actively fight against their own self interest, dragging the rest of the country along with them.

But why jump to god? I don't know what came before the big bang. I assume there's some complicated quirk of time, space or string theory that makes it work, but it doesn't really matter to me in the long run.

What I don't get is saying "I don't know what caused the big bang, I guess it was God." Not knowing something doesn't mean you have to jump to religion. Especially with all the baggage religion carries with it.

I get what they're going for but like wouldn't Spiderman technically count as someone in a bizarre costume that ties people up.
