I hate to be the one to tell you this, but a lot of media gets their breaking news from first hand witness accounts on Twitter. It's somewhere in the chain on nearly every breaking news story.

Its everywhere, even in this comment section; people trying to brow beat you into voting for the candidate they want you to because the other candidate will do irreparable harm. Maybe I'm just too jaded but between voting for a 3rd party and not voting at all like I normally do, I'll vote for the 3rd party.

Vote blue no matter who is a recipe for keeping the status quo. I'm tired of it and I'm no longer giving into the fear mongering that happens every 4 years. If Biden wants my vote he's going to have to earn it by actually supporting policies that are left wing. I'm voting for who I want to vote for, not "the lesser of two evils"

Presidential candidates look towards other candidates to see what policies are getting support, voting for a 3rd party shows people like Biden that those politics are more important than the ones they're currently supporting. Voting blindly democrat just lets them keep getting away with the same bullshit they've been pulling for 50 years.

I'm voting for the candidate who best supports renewable energy, decarbonization, affordable housing growth. If I have to go 3rd party I will.

Being able to instantly publish pretty much anything to a global audience is very valuable yes. I think people take for granted the power that a platform like twitter has when dealing with breaking news and pop culture. There really isn't another style of platform with the same reach or impact on the internet (yet).

It can't make these kind of changes... yet... It's downright obtuse to think that it couldn't be programmed to be more useful in situations like this. AI generation has come ridiculously far in 2 years, and detractors keep coming up with milquetoast arguments about why it isn't very good at a certain small thing.

I hate how many people are touting this stat like it's a success story when rent almost doubled during the pandemic.

"In contrast, the Phoenix metro area is awash in new housing. Rental inflation there was only 3% in the 12 months through March—below pre-pandemic levels—after accelerating to almost 18% in 2022."

Project Hail Mary is one of the few sci-fi books I can actually imagine concentrating down into a 2~ hour movie fairly well. I imagine they'll cut a lot of the flashback filler and just focus on the spaceship stuff. I'm also making a prediction that they're going to give Rocky an autotune computer voice pretty soon after meeting him instead of doing the whole "learning the language" thing since that arc took a while in the book.

I'm hopeful for this movie, it's a fun book and should translate well to the screen
