The goal is to make money, and they're more than willing to oversaturate and expand upon a universe that really doesn't need it in that venture.
The two main instances of this happening before are Star Wars and Marvel, but both have grossed so many billions that there's no way those film execs aren't going to keep chasing that dragon. Does it really matter if they sour the IP when it eventually flops?

I used to engage in online shouting matches all the time, but eventually I realized that I'm not really contributing to anything - at best I've alienated whoever it was I was arguing with from relating to my viewpoint, without ever intending to see theirs.
I'm not really content with the apathy I've since adopted, but I'm not really sure how else to be. I don't think I could ever commit enough of my life to take whatever action I would need to in order to actually contribute meaningfully, so I guess I'll just vote for X color every few years and call it a day?

I don't know if that many people ever really wanted Biden specifically. His politics are fine for a democrat, and overall his presidency has been very 'normal' (obviously he's had divisive issues/actions, but so has every other president in history). He's just a safe bet politically, but with how old he is now it's unclear how safe that bet actually is when it really wouldn't be surprising if he randomly croaked through his next term if elected.
