Could anyone provide some insight as to why we aren't seeing Russian soldiers surrender in this situation? Man after man kept walking into Ukrainian bullets in those trenches, while at the same time the Ukrainian soldiers are begging the Russians to surrender and live.
I wish those in the trenches taking bullets were the rich Russian oligarchs that backed this war, instead of convicts and farmers from poor regions of Russia. My heart goes out to those impoverished, unequipped Russian soldiers fighting a war that isn't theirs to fight. I am glad the Ukrainians are making headway, but it has been at a terrible cost and loss of life.

There is no such thing as taking classified documents out of a SCIF for official purposes. It's either an accident or intentional. The only time a document can ever leave the physical spaces of a SCIF is inside a classified courier bag, which has it's own rules, one being the bag may never be opened outside of a SCIF.

Spills occur with high frequency if you work in a high enough classified setting. My boss was recently responsible for a spill. She reported it to security, and nothing happened to her because it was clear it wasn't her intent. Hell, there is one guy who earned the nickname Spill for accidentally sending a highly classified email on the unclass system (it is typical to have 3 or more computers linked via a KVM switchboard on the same set of monitors and peripherals, one for unclass and each different classified system). He was a contractor too, which the government is typically less forgiving towards, but again, everything turned out fine for him.
The biggest difference in all these instances, including Biden and Pence having classified documents, is that reports were made to the proper channels to address the spill once it was learned about by the at fault party. Trump had an easy way out of this issue if he had returned the documents without fuss once they were discovered. Instead he demonstrated intent to retain these records for personal gain.
I was working at the Pentagon on the day on Jan 6th. The absolute look of horror, confusion, and fear I saw in the senior officers faces as it was going down is something I'll never forget.
For a short moment, they had no idea which way this thing was going to blow, and that terrified me because they were the ones that were in charge. Jan 6th was a complete shock to the upper brass in the military, and no one knew how to handle it as it was the President inciting the potential coup.
In the moment, and being so close to it, Jan 6th was absolutely frightening for what could have happened to my country and the world.
