I'll be playing the DS cartridge on my New 3DS XL. I'd love to play it on my SNES, but I lost the cartridge during our last move.

So much visual, artistic style in the games. Modern huge production games look realistic, but the almost never hold my attention like a PS or Vita game.

Only gotchas that really remain at this point are a lower battery life than Mac OS (not horrible, but not as good), no video out from USB C (my laptop has HDMI so not a issue) and by default the screen is doesn't use the top part with the notch (you can enable via kernel flag).

I agree with the author, there are parts of Tahoe that look really nice, like the new icons or the tabs in Safari. There are parts that are such a cool effect they distract, like the "plus" button on spaces when you hover over it refracts the background in such a cool way. And then there are parts that are just plain ugly or unusable, like the control panel over a solid color or the inconsistent border radiuses.
As for me, I'll just keep using my personal MacBook with Fedora.

Built out of a desire to enable my small business clients to make updates to their websites, without turning to some heavy/expensive CMS platform. It also has a built-in, privacy focused analytics platform and simple CRM for managing form responses. I wrote about the why and tech stack on my website!

Then when you finish, it just goes on and on and on about some membership or something, I just drove away.

Thankfully I also made all the technical decisions for our application (ie no bloated frontend framework, microservices, etc), but there's always battles that you can't win and just kind of sigh at ("this needs AI!").

Haha nothing wrong with that!
What drew you to Taiwan/ what do you love about it??
We had a Taiwanese friend that invited us to visit. Fell in love with the culture, food and infrastructure. The second time I visited I stayed for a month, working remotely from coworking spots. Stayed in Taipei and Kaohsiung. People were so friendly, my fondest memory is going to see whatever star wars movie had just came out and a random guy came up and was like "hey, I've got a case of beers, wanna watch the movie with us and drink?". The temples and parks are so beautiful in Taipei (and Beitou District is such a cool area), and the beach + art district in Kaohsiung was awesome.

Rider of bicycles, bikepacker/bicycle tourist looking to do a months-long trip in the next couple of years
What routes are you looking at? I've had the Ohio to Erie trail on my list for a year as a week ride, just haven't found the time.
Calvin and Hobbes superfan
As a kid I spent most winter mornings next to the pellet stove reading Calvin & Hobbes.

I'm now in this boat after my SRAM etap shifters have died in the middle of rides multiple times.

- 33/M/Ohio - USA
- Married, dad of 1 (soon to be 2), 2 dogs + 3 cats
- Retro tech enthusiast, pretty much always carry my iPod and GBA SP with me. Gaming is mostly on my Dreamcast/Genesis (my kid's favorite)/N64/Gameboy
- Cyclist, mostly a roadie. Occasional gravel and mountain biker. Have my second century coming up this weekend
- Programmer since I was 12, learned on an Atari 400 I found at a garage sale. I work in tech as a manger now.
- Pretty fed up with modern tech and enshittification, I don't have social media & keep my phone and computers on DnD 24/7. Terrified of the influence silicon valley tech will have on my kids
- Use Linux as my daily driver, Asahi Fedora on the Macbook and Arch on my desktop
- Since de-techifying my daily life I've gotten big into reading, went from not finishing a book in years to finishing nearly a book a week the past couple of months. Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport was a major turning point read for me.
- I'm the weird guy that spends 3+ hours on the park bench reading or just staring at the trees/water
- I have a physical newspaper subscription
- I buy CDs, DVDs and Blu-rays and don't subscribe to any streaming services. There's a certain magic to my kid coming up to me with a DVD in hand of what he wants to watch (he also once tried to put the DVD in my 5-disc CD player...)
- I'm a landlord with 2 properties, it's fine until it's not. As a consequence though I'm fairly handy
- Live in the suburbs of a large city, but desperately want to move back to the countryside/small town America. Grew up in tiny Ohio & Iowa towns. So sick of "Keeping up with the Joneses", HOAs, etc.
- Love to travel, did Australia this year. Previously Canada, 5xMexico, 2xChina, 2xJapan, 2xTaiwan (my favorite country)
- Always wanted to run my own business, haven't gotten there yet though (beyond some freelance clients & a short-lived mildly successful SaaS years ago)

The first one, BookLeaf, is a web-based bookmark manager. One of the cool things I recently added was the ability to auto-discover RSS feeds, then let you know which sites have recent updates with a link directly to the new article. It's not a full-fledged RSS reader, but instead a "hey this person posted, you should go check out their blog!".
Another project I made is ReactBar. It's a simple way to add reactions to any webpage, developed primarily for my blog but I went ahead and turned it into a free service.
It's fun building quick projects to solve my needs. I used to build hoping to make money and create a SaaS, but my focus now is just making something I enjoy.
I maintain very few subscription services and instead use alternatives for most. IE I buy blu-rays and DVDs rather than use streaming media, have a Synology NAS at home rather than pay for file storage, buy CDs and load them onto my iPod, and prefer playing or buying older physical games than overpriced new games or game subscription services. We also heavily rely on the library system.
Outside of the tech space, I'd probably say home contractors. I'll do anything I can to do it myself before paying someone, contractors are just too expensive (for example, replacing a window with a contractor is $2-3k US dollars, the same window is $400 at the store). I also manage our rental properties myself, as most management companies charge 10-15%.
