Does the larger snowflakes add more snow at the bottom compared to the smaller snowflakes?
Exactly! The bottom is partitioned into buckets and half the size of the flake is added to the height of the closest bucket when the flake reaches the bottom. The buckets stop growing once they've reached a max height (as you discovered).

For example, he loves to play Tetris on my Gameboy Advance SP. It's 2 buttons and a d-pad. We also play a ton of Sonic on my Sega Genesis, 3 buttons and a d-pad. Top Gear 2 on SNES (a recent addition as he's gotten more coordinated) is 4 buttons and a d-pad.
A lot of what we play is multiplayer. For example, in Sonic, he gets to be tails and fly around. In Little Big Planet on PS3 (one of the newer games we've tried), he loved learning how to chase me around and slap me.
All this to say, I recommend older games that rely on simple inputs, and starting off with co-op helps them ease into it. On Switch, Sonic Mania is a great option, it's basically classic Sonic including the second player being tails. You can also buy the physical edition that includes the Sonic Racing game for like $20 USD. There's also the Switch classic options if you subscribe to Switch online. The NES, SNES, Sega Genesis and Gameboy would all be good options.
Now I fully realize some will probably completely disagree with me, saying older games are much harder and frustrating, but I think if your goal is to play instead of trying to beat the level, older games are great for learning coordination.

Our Tesla is penalized with an extra $200/year at registration time and our hybrid (that only gets 25 mpg) $100/year. We barely drive and in no way would pay that amount in gas tax for the Tesla (and the hybrid we already pay the gas tax).

Firefox will be easy enough to find an alternative to though.

Take a day and ride the train far out into the countryside to a random small town. The Tobu Tojo line goes to a cool small town called Yorii in Saitama. Nothing notable there, but a great experience of just walking around the town and country (actually I think there was ruins of a fort or something there)
-
Go into restaurants that you don't know a thing about, point to something random on the menu that seems the right price for lunch/dinner and eat that. Menu behind the counter and you can't point to something? Take a picture and point to the item on your phone.
-
Head over to Ikubukuro at night and get smashed at a nomihodai. Just don't miss last train (been there, it sucks).
-
The best pizza place in the world is DevilCraft in Kanda. Seriously, it's amazing. Get a reservation asap. Spend my birthday there at the bar downstairs.
-
Likewise, the best Indian restaurant I've ever been to is this place near Ekoda Station. I still have a coupon for lunch in my wallet after 13 years.
-
Go sing some karaoke if you are with anyone. Getting smashed and attempting to sing 99 luftballons in German with friends is a memory that stays with you (assuming you don't get TOO smashed).
-
Hit up a Mister Donut
I'll add to this comment if I think of anything else! But in general, just explore! You can get off at any station and find cool stuff.

I found the engineering side of me getting in the way between me and blogging many times. Heck, I've rebuilt my site so many times over the years!
I (think) I've finally found a system that works really well for me though, it's just barely one step above plain HTML and lets me focus on writing.
I use 11ty, which is amazing in my opinion. You can use any language (HTML, Nunjucks, Markdown, etc) and add front matter to anything (including HTML). This makes defining layouts, meta data and feeds super easy. I wrote a simple bash script to publish (runs a 11ty build and pushes up to xmit). I started using BBEdit to write because the clippings feature lets me automate adding the front matter header to articles.
I also just recently (like...minutes before posting this reply) added what I call a "mumble" page. Basically my own version of tweets, short thoughts that don't deserve an article. Wrote a bash script to easily add and publish a mumble.
I don't use my phone much, so not being able to write from it isn't a issue for me.
But anyways, all that to say, keep up the writing!

It was a lot more fun riding with people I know, but virtual still isn't super fun. Thankfully we are still planning to do in-person morning rides when it's not rainy/snowing.
Also started swimming again. The city built a new gym+aquatics center 5 minutes from my house, so that's been a good motivator. Have to convince myself to try some weight lifting as well, really no idea how to start though. I've always been focused on cardio.
Trying to control my eating on top of everything, looking at cooking more/eating out less. Been making some fish+veg dishes that have been yummy. Doctor recommended the DASH diet which I have to look into.
Love the idea, especially rotted Halloween pumpkins (I may or may not have 1 slowly rotting on my patio...). I could see replacing snow particles with rain for spring.
