I was given little choice about being up at 5am and so I caught the co-main and main event.
I haven't got anything particularly original to say, Lewis vs Ngannou was a solid contender for the worst fight I've seen in the UFC. 33 total strikes. As if heavyweight wasn't already looking worryingly shallow.
I had no preference in the main event, I like both guys. Glad for DC, he makes a bit of history and showed again that he has really good hands to go with the wrestling. One of the sport's best ambassadors and, as a fellow nearly-40 year old, gives me hope I might not be as old as I feel.
I expect Stipe will come back strong. There aren't enough people in the division between him and the belt, with DC retiring before too long, Brock probably only fighting once or twice before something happens, Cain nowhere to be seen and the new names stinking up the place last night, Stipe might be fighting for the belt again within 12 months.
On a general note, /r/MMA is one of the finest communities that I've encountered, on any subject. I like it here on tildes, I hope it takes off with a different sort of tone to what a lot of Reddit has become, but I can't imagine there being a big MMA conversation here when it's so well managed, modded, discussed and contributed to as it is over there.
I was also completely unaware of this until a few years ago, often choosing 88 when necessary to include a number in a username or whatever, in reference to Back to the Future.
I am still annoyed that an innocent reference to a joyful film is somehow usurped by childish Nazi secret code bullshit.
