What does a 1000$ smartphone do that a 200$ doesn't? The answer in most case is take better photographs.

Don't get me wrong, smart phones are wayyyyyyyy overpriced right now, but definitely don't discount the importance of software updates and especially security patches. With how fast vulnerabilities are found nowadays, having a phone that is even months behind could have serious consequences.

I've got about 4 hours in on my Oculus Rift CV1. This is the best VR game I've ever played and it's not even a competition at this point.

    • The first time I used the gravity gloves (or 'Russels' as they are called) to pull an object towards me and grab it in mid-air is something I won't forget for a long time. I'm still giggling just thinking about it.

    • The game is stupidly beautiful. I would say my system is mid-to-upper-mid spec wise (i5-6600k, 1070 OC, 16GB) and the detail is mind blowing. When you pick up a dead zombie, the gore is grotesque and visceral; you can see individual organs shift! Alyx's fingernails have dirt underneath them. There's dust on derelect hospital beds.

    • The voice acting quality, especially when comparing it to other VR titles, really puts it in another league.

If you don't have VR but can find a way to play it, this is a must-play. If you have a VR headset, this is the definitive VR title and a 100% must-own.

I'll go a different direction and say Crackdown on the Xbox, not because its movement system is beautiful or groundbreaking, it's just stupidly fun.

Once you upgrade your character's agility/speed/jumping to 100%, you are tearing around the city leaping over skyscrapers and moving almost as fast as the car you drive. If I could have that movement system on a map the size of Red Dead Redemption 2, I probably wouldn't turn the game off for months.

"I just got a very disturbing message from a cardiologist at one of Milan's largest hospitals. They are deciding who they have to let die. They aren't screening the staff anymore because they need all hands on deck, and they have a very small area of the hospital dedicated to non-COVID patients, where they still screen doctors. Everyone else is dedicated to COVID patients. Even if they are positive but they don't have a cough or fever, they have to work..."

When you say the animations, do you mean the in-engine cutscenes? Yeah, they are a little choppy, but I couldn't care less. I am having an absolute blast playing through the campaign.

    What's this about bottlenecks?

:old man prepares to yell at cloud:

IMO, it's a symptom of an out-of-control spec war in the PC Gaming community. You have to have the best spec'd PC to enjoy any PC game, which means you can't just overclock a CPU anymore. Now you have to get 3600 MHz B-Die RAM with better timing and overclock it, AIO for your GPU and CPU, and a 1 TB 970 Evo Plus NVME for boot+games... to play League of Legends at 144hz. Oh, and RGB EVERYTHING.

I'm very very much exaggerating here, mostly I'm just annoyed/jealous that I can't keep up with consumer PC terminology and filled with FOMO about buying the wrong components myself.

    • We need to do some major trust-busting in every single facet of media and go back to older FCC rules that state a corporation is only allowed to own a certain amount of stations/markets.

    • After trust-busting, the word "news" in LLC/corporations/entities titles should be regulated/"licensed" to organizations that adhere to a certain set of rules, encorced by either the FCC or a new governmental agency.

    • Obviously, this is a big Fist Amendment no-no, so the ruleset needs to be drawn up by a combination of media entities; basically a constitutional convention for the media.

    • Two of the rules that must be included. 1.) Intentionally reporting false information x amount of times in one week/month/year results in y punsihment, ultimate punishment would be the revocation of your "news" license. 2.) No advertising during a "news" segment.
