What have you been watching and reading this week? You don't need to give us a whole essay if you don't want to, but please write something! Feel free to talk about something you saw that was cool, something that was bad, ask for recommendations, or anything else you can think of.

Finally finished Star Blazers 2199/Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2199 after a break of a few weeks. There's the unmistakable feeling of this being a summary of an older, much longer story, but it still comes off very, very well handled and updated. Ultimately the writing just isn't robust enough for me, and though it's probably tasteful by anime standards, stupid "fan service" abounds. However, the stellar cinematography, animation quality, and action sequences shouldn't be overlooked. The effort that went into this shines through, and it'd be a very strong pick for an introductory Saturday morning anime. I'd probably keep up with it if I was 14, but as it is I won't be watching the second season.
The most notable moment of the series for me was episode 14, apparently an homage or reference to RahXephon (made by the same director), which I have been very hesitant to watch as I'm not a big fan of mecha. I thought that ep was by far the best of the season though, so I might end up giving it a shot.
Watching Re: Zero. I'm on episode 20 or something like that.
Getting tired of Subaru's emotional outbursts, though I like it otherwise. I think from some memes I've seen it seems like Emilia will go away and Rem will take center stage, which I'm happy for.
