Very interesting, light reading for a Saturday morning at a cafe. Also touches on issues of looted art and the Chinese national psyche. I laughed out loud at this part:

Strange how it keeps happening, how the greatest works of Chinese art keep getting brazenly stolen from museums around the world. Is it a conspiracy? Vengeance for treasures plundered years ago? We sent Alex W. Palmer to investigate the trail of theft and the stunning rumor: Is the Chinese government behind one of the boldest art-crime waves in history?

Queen Victoria of Britain was given a pet Pekingese dog, the first of its kind ever seen in Europe. Unabashed by its provenance, she named it Looty.

There's an issue for it; going to try to get it worked on.

I'd be interested to see the context that such artifacts are treated within when they arrive back at China. For many of these the journey that the piece has taken through the hands of its various owners is a part of its history, but if held by someone with an overly-nationalist bent they might not be interested in doing this part of the curatorial works and it would end up being reduced to a footnote of "1860-2004: Stolen by foreigners".

I just hope the artifacts end up available to the public. Buying looted artifacts of historical significance to add to your own collection is wrong, even if you're Chinese.
