I love coloring and lettering digitally. As far as comics are concerned, it's much simpler. I used to hand-letter my comics and I felt like an 80-year old arthritic when I was done. And coloring? Forget it. I couldn't afford Doc Martin's Dyes back in the day. But now? Super simple! Set ink layer to Multiply; put the colors underneath the ink layer. Make a mistake? Undo! It's amazing.
I'd probably even ink digitally if I could get the same kinds of lines and effects from a computer or tablet that I can get from a good old-fashioned brush. The digital alternatives (and even brush pens) can't compare.
Not Yet, that is! I have no doubt that I'll see some serious digital brush-inking within my lifetime. They just haven't got there yet.
Done with a brush and Chinese ink on 2-ply bristol board. Colored in GIMP. Thanks for checking it out!
Thanks!
