    This article was disappointingly thin on details. The first dozen paragraphs are spent talking about heavy metals deposited in peat, but not a single number to be found anywhere.

    Geochemistry can make very confident statements about things like metal concentrations in soil, why leave it all out? They only cite one single research paper, and it's paywalled.

    I'm also curious to know what the emissions of a peat bog are like. Surely a few million tons of plant material slowly rotting away is giving off some amount of methane?
