    It's sad that they had to pass an actual ordinance for some of this. Water and a shady rest area seem like such obvious requirements that it's hard to believe that legislation was required to...

    It's sad that they had to pass an actual ordinance for some of this. Water and a shady rest area seem like such obvious requirements that it's hard to believe that legislation was required to require them. I'm glad to see that they'll provide AC as well, but that might mean the premature retirement of thousands of work vehicles that don't have it.

    I'd love to see this extended to all workers, not just city workers/contractors.

    Glad to see some protections, the heat there is no joke. I lived in nearby Tempe when I attended Arizona State University for a year and the weather was the biggest shock to me. I still remember...

    Glad to see some protections, the heat there is no joke. I lived in nearby Tempe when I attended Arizona State University for a year and the weather was the biggest shock to me. I still remember the one time I visited downtown Phoenix from ASU and it was 120 degrees. My friends and I were in downtown for all of like 5 minutes as we got milkshakes and promptly left. I also remember having to quickly learn the most shaded paths to my classes as the direct sun rays would burn your skin more like a radiation burn.
