Sharing some news from my little corner of the world. At a time when we are finally becoming cognizant of the incredible risk posed by climate change, and the difficulty in righting our course, local energy monopoly Dominion is investing billions in pipelines to move fracked gas around the country. In the process they are trampling over property rights, principals of environmental stewardship, and democratic values. Dominion is the single largest donator to both political parties and individual politicians in Virginia, which is a bit awkward as they are a state-mandated monopoly.

This fight has the potential to shift political realities that have been taken as a given for decades, since many of the property owners live in rural areas that traditionally vote Republican and Democratic leadership on this issue would win them over. While Lieutenant Governor Fairfax and 16 state legislators have refused to take donations from Dominion and their PACs, Governor Northam has been obfuscating and deflecting and then outright supporting these pipelines.
