    But when the sun dips below the horizon, gas plants around the state and coal-fired generating plants in Utah crank into high gear, spewing out over 4,000 megatons of carbon dioxide an hour. There’s a desperate need for clean energy that can run at night, especially when it’s not windy.

    While that's a point I've made before with regard to solar power, those numbers are way off. Only 37,000 megatons of carbon dioxide are released worldwide in the course of an entire year. I suspect there was a confusion between megatons and metric tons, since 4000 tons an hour seems quite a lot more plausible.
