The article describes the causes as mainly fishing, pollution, plastic, tourism, etcetera. I recently read some parts of the IPCC report on 1.5 degrees warming, which will be much more dire still:...

I recently read some parts of the IPCC report on 1.5 degrees warming, which will be much more dire still:

The risks of climate-induced impacts are projected to be higher at 2°C than those at global warming of 1.5°C (high confidence). Coral reefs, for example, are projected to decline by a further 70–90% at 1.5°C (high confidence) with larger losses (>99%) at 2ºC (very high confidence).

I watched the only US coral reef die right in front of my eyes in the Florida Keys over the 14 years that I lived there. It was so disheartening that I pretty much stopped diving reefs.
