I totally fell in love with Alpha Centauri when it came out, absolutely put many many more hours into it than any of the Civ games. Something about the idea that in the future people can group themselves by ideology rather than nationality appealed to me.
I never knew they it was still getting update by the community. Do you know of where we can get the community updates?? My googling is only really returning stores like Origin and GoG.

One of the things to me that makes this game so fantastic is the varied voice acting and all the in-depth writing and world-building. It's something that Beyond Earth fell incredibly short on for me. Then they released Alien Crossfire and effectively doubled all of that content. There's a Civ4 mod that tries to recreate the game but somehow the original is the one I keep going back to.
