The stardust requirement appears steep, so it won't be easy to trade to dex completion, but that might be a good thing.

Overall, it looks like they're trying to keep it balanced (with ratelimiting of things people actually want, IV rerolls to keep 100% mons from becoming a currency, and a high stardust cost that goes down with actual friends)

Have you been playing since the beginning? I played for a couple of months when it first came out, but then quickly got bored. How do you like it?

My enjoyment of the game is mostly as a way to spend time with people, especially my girlfriend. We live in a city that has a pretty decent community and have made friends with the local raid group. Overall, it's a lot of fun and we end up going out to raid a couple times a week. The community days they've been having monthly also really reinvigorate the scene. Once you find a good place, and good people, the game gets a lot better.

Niantic got creative in placing limitations on trading legendaries and shinies, probably in an attempt to cut down on third-party Pokemon Go Trading platforms. To do these special trades, you'll have to first play for days with the other player, go on raids together, give gifts to each other, and eventually level up to "Great Friends" or "Best Friends." And then you can trade that extra MewTwo for that shiny Kyogre.
