Not super exciting, but I flashed two (indoor) 5.11bs right after each other today. A couple months ago I was struggling with 5.10-s so I think I've made decent progress.

There's a bouldering gym that I go to that has an ice cream place next door. The gym is amazing, but it's made even better by some fruity pebbles ice cream.

I really enjoy rock climbing at the absolute beginner level. I have a mild fear of heights and get frustrated if I cannot make the climb without breaks. My only true experience is with the walls in Railay, Thailand. I hope to go deep water soloing this October! I was fortunate enough to climb once at the REI in Seattle, I think it was the tallest indoor wall at the time. Used to work a portable rock wall too. There is an indoor gym near my home but I haven't gone to look at it or ask about joining. If I remember it is a bit pricey.

I'm out of the climbing game for the moment due to a knee injury, but my friends and I have climbed at the Owens River Gorge once a year for most of the last decade. Most years we also do a day at the Alabama Hills as well.

The Owens River Gorge is a great place to climb because of the density of options. Even when it's busy you won't be that far from another set of routes if your first choice is occupied.

I have a fondness for the Alabama Hills. The rock forms fairly large crystals, so you can just press your hands and feet into a 60 degree slope and walk up it like a gecko. God forbid you slip and fall on it, though. At speed it's like a cheese grater.

I have a group that I climb with weekly here in PDX. Been climbing for a little under a year, currently working on V3-5s, all indoors.
