    I haven't the stomach to read the article; mental health care is in too sad a state at present. As a trainee nurse in mental health care in Britain about 50 years ago I can say it was much better...

    I haven't the stomach to read the article; mental health care is in too sad a state at present. As a trainee nurse in mental health care in Britain about 50 years ago I can say it was much better then. I've read of abuses here in the USA, but back then, there, the mental health hospital I worked in was compassionate and helpful. Measuring a society by the way it treats the least fortunate leaves us low on the scale now.

    Beautiful and powerful. It is alarming to read about mental healthcare in this country going back only 100 years, and begs the question if we know what we are doing even now.
