Groups for language learners

Tags: language

One of the things I like about Reddit is that it has subreddits for language learners like r/spanish, r/chineselanguage, r/learnjapanese, r/latin, r/ancientgreek, etc.

Do you think Tilde's mechanics would work well with such groups? Maybe having a hierarchy like ~language.spanish.learn?

At the moment, ~ is english only, as its community is too small to support multiple languages. Once it grows larger, I think the hierarchy should not be ~language.spanish.learn. This would lead to ~language.spanish being spammed with posts about learning Spanish, which would likely not interest the majority of the group. Something like ~language.learn.spanish would probably be better.

Ah, yes, that makes sense. Actually ~learn.language.spanish might be best. There could be a group for learning things via Tilde, and then it gets more specific to language learners.

I think in time that would be cool. I've always wanted to learn Sanskrit. But I'm pretty sure that's more of a written language so I probably just need to get a pen pal and then write to them back...
