Argh! This bugs me more than it should. This is like crediting "Google Images" as a source and thinking that's totally cool, you've covered all your legal bases. You're not crediting the author, you're just paying lip service to the terms of the creative commons license. That's not real attribution. Just because it's free to use in exchange for credit doesn't mean you can cheap out on the giving credit part.
Article written for kids, but I thought it makes a cute and easy introduction to the event itself.
