I dislike this article, namely because they didn't mention the coronavirus at all. This isn't a case of Abstention, this a case that very few people have had the privilege to have both vaccine dosages.

As I said in the other thread, France has a 47% first dosage rate and a 27% second dosage rate. I would be warry about going out to anything public as well with those numbers (My area has similar rates, a bit lower, and I nearly decided against voting in my regional election last month just because of that even though I am fully vaccinated).

Q: Is election turnout directly influenced by coronavirus? Why do you think that? (something along those lines)

Mostly conjexture. Reason and logic just follows that steering clear of others, especially anything that is going to bring lots of people throughout an extended time is a particular social faux pas at the moment (rightfully so). Individual health over a gambled collective outcome is at the forefront of their minds I would imagine.

But, there are some papers that support this such as:

Both of those have nearly identical conclusions that an areas increase in elder inhabitants results in lower overall turnout. In the Italian study they directly found that for an areas 1% increase in elder mortality, there was a 0.5% decrease in voter turnout.

Q: How does voting work for regional elections in France? Is it purely in-person voting, or are there other options?

France has little in the way of voting outside of in-person. This is the best historical analysis I have seen on why.

Wow, I looked it up and I did not expect France to have little to no mail in balloting (seems like you can have someone vote by proxy or if you're a foreign expat you can mail in a ballot).
