Hi all, thanks to everyone who enjoyed and engaged with Fresh Album Fridays last year.

Releases are picking back up again, and I wanted to enter the year by relaxing the format a bit. ~music was a little busier last summer when I rebooted these threads, but as things have mellowed down I think broadening these threads beyond just albums to any new music (singles, reissues, etc) makes increasing sense as a way to make these threads a hub for new music discussion as the year progresses.

I'll still curate the title, but otherwise I'll leave the comments open to discussion, instead of more rigidly listing highlights of the week as comments - I'll likely leave a comment on my personal feelings of the week instead.

A leak of The Smile's new LP has been circling around, but officially releases today - one for the Radiohead fans. I wasn't crazy about their 2022 drop, but enjoyed it enough to be curious about this one.

We have a Philip Glass solo piano album arriving as well - skipping through it sounds like pretty standard Glass.

Currently listening to a record 'Blue Raspberry' from Katy Kirby who's new to me, really mellow singer songwriter stuff - very pleasant! Would make for good weekend listening, I recommend.

New singles from Squid and Elbow too.

My posts here I usually mirror as blog posts on my site, and since Fresh Album Fridays went on hiatus a bit, so did I. Worked out well for my life anyway. So, to kick back into gear, I'm just going to present a simple "things I've liked released so far this year" list, with minimal comment.

It can be pretty exhausting after a while though

Yea I think in my head I still think of them as a vrind band which they aren't really. So I kinda gotta reframe that and then I think it will click. Might just swing back to it after a few weeks.
