twentyone pilots new album Clancy. The whole album flows. They leave you hanging at the end of Paladin Strait. Definitely makes you feel they are continuing the story they've been telling through...

Posting my faves from last week's releases (and a bonus recommendation). This week in particular I strongly recommend the bonus release as it's one of my all-time favorites.

    Non-metal

Tiny Habits - All For Something
Wonderful acoustic / folk-pop with absolutely beautiful vocals. Listening to this gives me chills. Recommend the track Mudroom specifically.

DIIV - Frog In Boiling Water
Shoegaze/bedroom pop from NY that has a nice edge to the guitars with a great whispered vocal style on top.

Metal (primarily clean-ish / non-scream vocals or instrumental)

    none this week

    Metal (primarily harsh vocals)

Spiter - Enter The Gates of Fucking Hell
PA punky black/thrash-ers are back with a solid EP. Plenty of wild energy and riffs here as usual. Music feels constantly anxious and fast.

    Reversed - Wildly Possessed
Blackened, thrashy Canadian death metal. Heavy riffs and solid drums. While the vocals are good, they're a bit too high in the mix for my taste, but I otherwise enjoy this.

    Lucifuge - Hexensabbat
German speed/black/thrash group releasing yet another solid full-length after the great Monoliths of Wrath. Driving, fast, nice forward punky mix. Great solos and some of the best vocals for black/thrash out there.

Vale of Pnath - Between the Worlds of Life and Death
Colorado technical melodic death/black metallers take a more cinematic turn this time around. Heavy on the symphonics and production- probably too much. There are things about this I feel like I normally don't like, but it actually works okay for me. Realizing this band has many Abigail Williams members- it seems they're allowing tons of early Abigail Williams influence to come through this time around. You could have played this for me without telling me what it is and Abigail Williams would have been a solid guess. Does this dilute Vale of Pnath's output? Maybe.

    Arroganz - Quintessenz
Blackened death metal from Germany. The riffs and structures here have almost a ritual feel to them. Progressive moments and lots of space given to vocals, melodies, and drum fills. Stays very interesting throughout.

    Dopethrone - Broke Sabbath
Blackened stoner-y sludge-y doom. While I think the majority of stoner bands are all pretty boring, I like the black metal influenced approach to the genre. The vocals are extremely sharp and biting and fighting with the absolute wall of heavy riffs.

    Rotting Christ - Pro Xristou
Greek ritualistic black metal veterans come through with a very folk-metal leaning release. Plenty of spoken word and cleans calling back and forth with each other. Still plenty of ritualistic tempos and drum patterns going on here. The past few Rotting Christ releases have been relatively repetitive and pretty forgettable. This new one stands out a bit because it leans so much more into the folk aspects and instrumentation. Swelling song progressions, majestic and anthematic choruses. I'd nearly say even if you're not into black metal at all- this could be your gateway release into the genre. The songwriting here is stronger than it has been in quite a while for this group.

Bonus Record (can be any genre from any time, simply a recommendation)

    Tennis System - Autophobia
Tennis System's Autophobia is a record I think everyone should hear. Beautiful, shining, sparkling, whispery vocals. Awesome bass lines. Great choruses. Plenty of rich guitar leads and heavy drums to really push the harder parts home. It's tough for me to describe how this makes me feel to listen to it, other than it being a euphoric experience. Do yourself a favor and check out the track Bend
