A little while ago when I was playing about with recurrent neural networks I decided to train one on The Beatles lyrics back catalogue. This is what it made.

I'd really love to have someone with more musical ability than me record some of these tracks so if anyone is interested in making some music please do get in touch (or just help yourself, of course!)

This was just a bit of fun but it wouldn't surprise me if machine learning systems are already in use in the pop industry. I'd imagine that if you trained a network on the lyrics (or even the MIDI) for best selling pop music over the last X years, it would get close to producing something good enough to hit the charts. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. Holly Hearndon currently works with a machine composition system as her 'partner' and people like Squarepusher and Autechre have also dabbled with machine systems.

If you're serious about wanting to get this recorded, IMO you should considering trying to ask in /r/WeAreTheMusicMakers. p.s. <3 Holly Herndon... PROTO is by far my favorite album released this year.
