For a bunch of teenagers they put out two catchy projects that I kept on repeat for a good while after release. I hope they drop something else soon while their name is still recognizable.

Oh yeah, they do. The whole music reviewer scene jumped on the GVF hate train, mostly because they sound like a carbon copy of Led Zeppelin. Honestly, I'd say it's okay to make fun of them a little bit, but reviewers all went too far. After the first couple of reviews, everybody was beating a dead horse for clicks.

I personally don't listen to them because I don't listen to a lot of classic rock, but I would think the reviewers would at least go "If you like Zeppelin, you'll like these guys."

At least from what I've seen whenever they get brought up on reddit or even the few times I've seen them on here people tend be very critical of how much they sound like zeppelin. Pitchfork also did a pretty scathing review of their album.

At the end of the day though I just greatly enjoy listening to the music, they have a knack for making stuff especially catchy to my ears and I'm not looking for innovation in a genre that by all means is well past it's peak. We've already seen the evolution of rock and Greta Van Fleet gives me fresh music with an old sound.

I don't place too much value on them either but they do shape a lot of public opinion, especially in music. I tend to see the same points from that review parroted any time they're brought up....

That's not to say they're invalid criticisms, but I think a good portion of people wouldn't form them by themselves if they didn't read that review or other people parroting it.
