This is the opening from a musical called Come From Away which tells the story of Canada's Operation Yellow Ribbon, where Canada accepted planes diverted from American airspace after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

The musical focuses on the small town of Gander, Newfoundland. Gander used to be a refueling station for planes on transatlantic flights, but as planes improved and became capable of longer range flights they no longer needed to stop there as often. Thus, Gander had a large but relatively unused airport and was an ideal location to land planes on short notice. The town of about 10,000 people housed, fed, and took care of nearly 7,000 passengers from the 38 planes that were landed at their airport. That is absolutely incredible.

The show itself is phenomenally well done, but the true story it tells makes my heart swell (the characters introduced in this song and throughout the play are all based on real people). The show is all about the impact of kindness, and it's a powerful reminder of how needed and transformative that can be. If you ever get a chance to see it, I cannot recommend it enough.
