This made me revisit things I occasionally wonder about, like how much human music is influenced by fundamental things that we might totally overlook, e.g. the natural rhythm of the human heartbeat, or even gravity? How do other animals interpret our music? Hell, how would aliens? How and why did certain cultures manage to so divorce themselves from their sense of rhythm that there are stereotypes about them not having the ability to dance?
My education in music theory basically amounts to a couple years of piano and recorder instruction in my preteen years that I bore with gritted teeth, so I have no answers. Any thoughts are welcome.
