Some slightly proggier house than last week, getting a bit trancier towards the end. I was only intending to do half an hour but got distracted. Made a couple of noticeable mistakes in this one, I brushed the jog wheels on the controller a couple of times which caused things to get out of sync, which isn't a failure mode I've encountered before. Also assigned some FX to the wrong channel a couple of times. Still working on the muscle memory required for digital mixing and this controller!
I ended up doing a lot of 'traditional' style mixing on this one, which for me means very long mixes which attempt to be seamless/unnoticable. I am aware I tend to do this, as well as use loops a lot and EQ mixing as well (ie, cutting the bassline from one track and bringing up the bass from the other) and I am going to try to mix things up (as it were) and use some different techniques, although the style of music does make a difference. It's kind of hard to chop this sort of music around in the same way you might with techno or drum and bass.
Maybe I should try to do a mix a week, that seems like an achievable goal. Some friday tunes sound good to you? I can't promise it's always going to be so relaxing as this though.. :)
