Tildes is a very serious site, where we discuss very serious matters like gerrymandering, search results and shoplifting. Tags culled from the highest voted topics from the last seven days, if anyone was flummoxed.

But one of my favourite tags happens to be offbeat! Taking its original inspiration from Sir Nils Olav III, this thread is looking for any far-fetched offbeat stories lurking in the newspapers. It may not deserve its own post, but it deserves a wider audience!

    Costa Brava town bans penis suits and sex dolls from stag and hen dos

    A popular resort town on Spain’s Costa Brava has banned inflatable penis costumes and sex dolls from stag and hen night celebrations, with fines of up to €1,500 (£1,276).

    “These attitudes have an impact on the community’s coexistence and we need to fight against them,” said the mayor, Maurici Jiménez, adding that were it in his power to do so, he would ban the celebrations altogether.

      Platja d’Aro, whose population of 12,500 can host as many as 300,000 visitors on a summer weekend
